"We are planning to build a robot that will aid future space exploration missions. They will be able to cover large distances and be able to sense obstacles so that it may navigate through such terrains. This will allow it it to map the newly discovered land. On Earth, it can be used for search and rescue during disasters; due to their small size, they will be able to reach tight locations and hence improve the efficiency of search and rescue teams. It will hold a small camera so that it can record everything it encounters.
To demonstrate this, we will build a prototype with legs that are able to climb up staircases of run/tread up to 220 mm and with rise as high as 220 mm."

"The Lockers in the Sixthform area currently require a key to lock them - but keys are never given to students as they get lost so easily. We plan to design an electronic locking system for the Sixthform lockers, allowing both students to set their own passcode, and also staff to access lockers with a central overriding passcode"

TEAM PLANE AND SIMPLE

"A Mathematical Graph (of dots and lines) is 'planar' when it can be drawn in the plane without any of the edges crossing. We plan to design a game for children which relies on this concept. The game will have different levels and be designed to appeal to older students in the Junior School."
