Meet our Teams!
If you know which Team you're looking for you can skip straight to the World Finalists, Professional Class Regional Finalists or Development Class Regional Finalists.

Team IQ are this year's Development Class National Champions. They've been a team for over a year and are working towards competing at the World Finals in June. Their members are Emily, Diora, Sophie and Lara. They were one of the first teams NLCS ever entered into this amazing competition so they are incredibly proud to have gotten this far and can’t wait to compete at Worlds.
Any support is greatly appreciated! Please follow them on their social media (below) or visit their website! Instagram: @teamiqlondon Website: https://www.teamiqlondon.co.uk |
Emily is the Team Manager. This means its her job to make sure the team meets deadlines and collaborates successfully with each other and external sponsors and mentors. However, her favourite aspect of the competition is definitely working to design and build their car and finally see it race down the track.
Sophie is the Finance, Sponsorship and Marketing Manager. She works and maintains active links with their sponsors, ensures the team stick to budget and tries to get the best merchandise. She's really looking forward to competing at Worlds and seeing what their team can achieve. Lara is the Manufacturing Engineer. Anyone who knows her knows she adores cars and so thoroughly enjoys the process of designing and building her own (albeit on a smaller scale!). When she's not wrestling with the design software, she's working to 3D print components, paint their car’s body and make sure everything fits within the strict parameters. Diora is the Design Engineer. This involves sketching designs and working closely with Lara on Autodesk to see if they are achievable, as well as looking at what makes successful real world F1 cars. There’s nothing better than spending months designing and building your car and finally seeing it race down the track and I’m looking forward to making an even faster car for Worlds. |

Each member fiercely passionate about our individual areas of interest, but united by one common belief in our core values of resilience, creativity, passion, drive and inspiring more girls into STEAM careers, we are wholeheartedly dedicated to fulfilling our roles to the best of our abilities. It is this energy, passion and ambition, which drives our team forward and helps us to overcome any challenges thrown our way.
Giulia: A new addition to the team, our Graphic Designer, Giulia, has always had a great passion for art and won’t settle for anything less than aesthetic. With lots of new and exciting ideas, she is looking forward to working with professional software to bring them to life. She’s an aspiring economist and is also keen to use this competition as an opportunity to further develop her knowledge of marketing and the world of business.
Sophie: Sophie is the Finance and Marketing Manager and is excited to delve into the business side of F1 while applying the valuable experience gained from her participation in the competition last year. She has an avid interest in space, aviation and the healthcare sector and, in her free time, she enjoys making art and keeping up with F1. |
Charlotte: As the newest member and Team Manager of Team IQ, Charlotte is incredibly excited to develop her skills in project management and compete with the team in Pro Class 2021. She is an aspiring aerospace engineer and has a particular passion for space. When not pursuing engineering endeavours, she enjoys drama and debating!
Lara: An aspiring automotive engineer, Lara has an interest in all things mechanical. From a very young age, she’s had a great passion for cars and by 3 years old, she had already converted her doll’s house into a garage for die-cast car models. She’s super excited to be competing in this season’s Pro Class, as our Design Engineer, and can’t wait to test out new design concepts, that weren’t possible with the Development Class regulations, and learn even more about the world of F1. Diora: Our Manufacturing Engineer, Diora, is excited to be pursuing her passion in mechanical engineering and Formula 1! She can’t wait to start bringing the CAD designs to life and testing different components to build the fastest car possible with her incredible teammates. If she’s not busy designing, you’ll almost certainly find her performing musical theatre or making short films. They have some exciting events coming up, so please follow Team IQ Pro on: Instagram @teamiq.pro, LinkedIn @Team IQ Pro and check out our website https://www.iqracing.org |

Finance and Marketing Manager As the finance manager, I am in charge of organising the budgets and resources needed for designing and making the car and team project work. I keep track of all the expenses and income generated, allocating certain funds to certain areas of the project. As the marketing manager, I am also in charge of creating and managing the team’s social media accounts. I joined F1 to gain some more communication skills and work with other talented and like-minded people, and I hope our team goes far in this competition. Neha Sponsorship manager As the sponsorship manager, I am involved with communicating with companies and brands in order to gain sponsorship for our F1 project. I am responsible for raising enough money so that we are able to buy the resources needed to assemble our car. I was keen to join F1 because I wanted to collaborate with people and achieve success in this competition. Through this experience I also hope to acquire the skill of communication, both by working with my team and reaching out to companies for sponsorship. |

Design and manufacturing engineer As one of the engineers, I use CAD software to design and develop the model of our car. Having a long-standing interest in naval architecture, I see F1 as an experience to build on my knowledge of fluid dynamics. In addition, my role also includes coordinating the manufacturing process by liaising with a test site to assemble and test the vehicle remotely. I hope to develop my teamwork and communications skills through this experience as well as gaining a deeper insight into the stages of development when designing an F1 car. Aria Design and manufacturing engineer As one of the design and manufacturing engineers, I work on designing our aerodynamic car, drawing this up using CAD software and manufacturing this in keeping with the regulations. I'm also in charge of testing our prototype cars and making adjustments that result in optimum performance. I joined F1 because I am interested in engineering and wanted to come up with creative ideas for a Formula One style car. It has allowed me to collaborate with our other engineer, Honey, to design a car which I hope will perform well in this competition. |
